Register as New Patient

We welcome all new patients and our only criteria to register as a patient is you must live in our catchment area.

The Goodinge Group Practice provide all patients with a named “usual GP” who will have overall responsibility for the care and support that our surgery provides to them. We encourage patients to try and see their usual GP where possible, particularly for ongoing problems.

We need to divide our patients evenly between all of our doctors, so they can manage their workload. Therefore the “registering GP” rotates from week to week based on each GP’s list size. We try to keep families under the same usual GP where possible, so new babies will be registered with their guardian’s usual GP.

Your usual GP will look after your repeat prescriptions, medication reviews and will be forwarded any correspondence received from other services (including hospital clinic letters).

If you wish to be told the name of your usual GP, please ask the reception team when you are next in the surgery.

Please be advised however that if you require urgent medical attention, you must be prepared to see any doctor.

If you have any questions, or wish to discuss this further with us, please contact the practice manager.

How to Register

If you wish to register please come to the surgery and pick up our registration forms or if you prefer complete the online pre-registration.

You’ll need to complete separate forms for each family member you wish to register.

If you sign up to the text reminder service you will receive a text confirming you have been registered at the practice.

Temporary Patient Registrations

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with that practice.

To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.
