Rabies Vaccine Availability – Important Patient Notice
Due to current national supply constraints and capacity issues, our practice is unable to offer rabies vaccinations at this time.
There has been a significant increase in demand for rabies vaccines across the UK following a recent confirmed case of human rabies in a traveller returning from Morocco. This tragic incident has led to a surge in requests for post-exposure treatment and precautionary vaccinations, prompting health authorities to prioritise vaccine use for urgent clinical cases.
The following website includes useful information for travellers about what to do before you go, precautions to take whilst away and also how to identify if you have been exposed to rabies: Rabies – Fit for Travel
If after reviewing the guidance you are concerned that you have been exposed, please contact the emergency walk-in clinic at the Hospital for Tropical Disease: Emergency Walk-In Clinic | The Hospital for Tropical Diseases (HTD) | London via email and online questionnaire who will aim to offer you an appointment the same day or the following day. Their email is monitored Monday – Friday 9am to 4pm. If it is outside of these hours, please visit your local Emergency Department.
